The Royalty cinema, Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne
The staff of the Royalty approached the Coxlodge and Grange Residents' Association. The cinema was the last item on the agenda and the Chair Mr. R. Robson (a former Gosforth councillor) was angry because he hadn't been told about it.
Despite this bad start, later he told the Evening Chronicle that the cinema "must stay open" and called for a grant to be made available to help with the cost of installing noise insulation.
The article appeared in the newspaper on Tuesday 15 December 1981.
